When a child loses a parent or loved one through death, their world is torn apart. Mourning Sun Children’s Foundation grew out of its Founders and their friends to help meet the educational needs of young children abruptly left behind by the untimely death of someone close to them. Since 2007, the scope and size of the Foundation have grown tremendously. Board members are humbled by the overwhelming support from our Sponsors and Patrons, which has allowed us to give back to our community and make a difference for children in need.

Today, Mourning Sun Children’s Foundation awards up to $20,000 annually to a deserving student who has experienced loss or hardship yet is still driven by their goal to better their lives and reach their educational dreams.

We provide a safe and fun place for them at the Sunrise Center to work through and better understand the grief and emotions they are struggling with.

And we provide a memorial grant to our local high schools for their certified technical education programs to better assist those students who won't attend a four-year college but still want to make a difference in this world.

Our mission: To fund and provide programs that offer empathy and promote empowerment, hope, and healing for grieving children, teens, and their families
